Super Bowl LIII

Super Bowl LIII will be in Atlanta, Georgia next year on February 3, 2019. The kickoff time has yet to be set but will be later. It will be held in the recently built Mercedes Benz Stadium, which is the home of the Atlanta Falcons. This stadium holds up to 71,000 people but has expanded seating to hold 80,000. This stadium has a giant glass wall and because of it being an indoor stadium, the weather will not play a role in the football game. The roof is retractable and unique. This super bowl will be very interesting because no one really knows who will be going as of now. If you are a fan of the NFL and have been watching, there are many good teams. With the teams being so good this year, the predictions of the two teams are up in the air for now.

Last year’s super bowl was very anticipated because of the teams who were playing. This Super Bowl was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Philadelphia Eagles played the New England Patriots. The Eagles won with a score of 41-33. It was one of the most unforgettable Super Bowls of all time. Nick Foles helped lead the Eagles to a fourth-quarter comeback victory, that the Patriots and fans never saw coming. This year’s Super Bowl is highly anticipated. One reason, Atlanta has not had a Super Bowl here since 2000. The new stadium is ready to welcome fans from across the United States. Of course, Atlanta fans want their team to be there, however, sometimes we don’t always get what we ask for.

There are several ways to watch the live stream of the Super Bowl 2019. Since I live in Atlanta, my husband and I are going to the game, however, that is not an option for most. Super Bowl LIII will be shown on CBS. It will also be streamed on CBS All Access. Online you can visit CBSSports official website for more information.

Social Media

The Super Bowl will be all over social media sites. This is always the case when anything huge is on tv or streaming live. Whether it’s smack talking each other or giving out spoilers of your favorite shows, social media will have everything on it. The Super Bowl Sunday will be no exception either. Score updates, bad call arguments, etc., it’ll be there. Which social media sites will be the most visited? We have listed a few that will get the most traffic on this glorious day.

Facebook

Facebook is going to be very busy on game day. The NFL has an official Facebook page that everyone should be following for the big game. There will be highlights, videos, and interviews on their page.

Twitter

Twitter is one of the best social media sites for updates, videos, photos, live scores, and trending tweets. Famous personalities will be tweeting, even our President. This should be the best place to be Sunday night, tweeting away.

Reddit

Reddit is a high-quality site where you can stream the game online. This is a forum site for anything you can ask questions or just talk about in general.

Everything you need to know about Super Bowl

This is a rundown of everything that you may need to know for Super Bowl Sunday. The season is in full force and the teams are still up in the air and stats are yet to be decided. This year, CBS will be airing the big game and there are other sites who will be streaming it live. Some services offer free trials for those who would like to watch the game. They just require login information in order to get it set up. VPNs will be available as well to provide viewing to those who may be out of the country or just want to watch a higher quality, private version if the game.

Selection process

In order to become a Super Bowl city, the cities will place a bid with the selection committee, these cities are then put through a vetting process. Many things come to play when selecting a city for the Super Bowl. These are: Weather, if there is a dome for cold weather or will it be wet or dry. New Stadiums, hosting Super Bowls after a new stadium is built can assist in bringing fans to come to the new stadium. Accommodations are a huge factor in selecting which city the Super Bowl will be held in. If there are many places to stay, the more the selection committee will consider your city to host the big game.

Super Bowl Tickets

Super Bowl tickets are always available, but the price is quite expensive unless you have the resources to get them. The NFL distributes the tickets to the teams, then everyone else gets them mainly through ticket brokers. Last year the tickets were up to $3500. This Super Bowl the face value of tickets will be at an all-time high! If you are an NFL season ticket holder, you will be entered into a lottery to get tickets at face value. There may be different contests and sweepstakes online before the big game, surf the web a little bit, and you may just find something that will not cost you money. If you cannot win tickets, just keep monitoring the prices of the tickets after the conference playoffs, they should drop in prices when we know who is going to the Super Bowl.

Entertainment

The Super Bowl is always throwing a great entertainer our way for the Halftime show. They also include spectacular visuals and sounds that have us talking for days after the show. This year should be no less than extraordinary! There are always those performers who are unannounced that pop out of nowhere. That’s what the halftime is all about, surprising the viewers. There have been rumors floating around that Kendrick Lamar and Cardi B. may pop up to support Maroon 5 during the halftime show. There is already gossip about what Maroon 5 will be doing this year to make their halftime, one to remember. Many Atlantans felt as if the halftime show should have gone to Outcast or someone that is from our hometown.

Halftime Show

For the Halftime show, Maroon 5 will be performing. Cardi B and Travis Scott are also slated to be performers in the show somehow. Kendrick Lamar is also rumored to possibly make an appearance. Some gossip of Jermaine Dupri has also popped up, all we can do is wait and see what the show has in store for us.

Super Bowl 2019 Performer

  • Maroon 5
  • Adam Levine ( Front Man)
  • Have a song with Cardi B. from the new album ( Kaepernick supporter, so iffy)
  • Maybe bringing Kendrick Lamar ( Iffy, he supports Colin Kaepernick)
  • On Tour now
  • Sponsored by Pepsi
  • Will be an Epic Show

Super Bowl LIII Preview

There are exactly 87 days, 16 hours, 31 minutes, and 40 seconds left until the Super Bowl. The date and now the time has been announced. The time that it will begin is 6:30 P.M. It is still early and difficult to predict who will be in the big game this year, but it looks like it’s going to be a fight to the finish with the teams this year. The Carolina Panthers and L.A. Chargers are really looking good this year and are predicted to be at least in the playoffs.

Live Score

During the game, you’ll be able to check the live score basically on any social media site. There are many live streaming feeds for the big game, no one should miss a score, a play, or the highlight reels.

Trademark

The NFL is super protective over their trademarks. When we see commercials that do not say “Super Bowl,” there’s a reason for that. The words, “Super Bowl,” are trademarked by the NFL. The bar or store has a Super Bowl party or drinks, they cannot charge anyone for entry into the show.

Final Words

There is so much excitement around this season’s super bowl and we are looking

forward to who plays this year. As an Atlantan, I’m very partial to my Falcons, however, I’m just simply proud to be in Georgia and want the state to represent us well.

Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show – Travis Scott to Perform

by SuperBowl 0 Comments
Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show – Travis Scott to Perform

Travis Scott will perform alongside Maroon 5 during the Super Bowl LIII halftime show.

A source close to the production confirmed Scott’s appearance to Rolling Stone, while the news was first reported by TMZ. Super Bowl LIII will be held February 3rd at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, and the game will air on CBS.

The NFL confirmed that Maroon 5 would perform at Super Bowl LIII in September, and at the time the band was billed alongside “special guests.” The group’s proclivity for all-star collaborations opened up the possibility that they could be joined by artists like Cardi B (“Girls Like You”), SZA (“What Lovers Do”), Future (“Cold”) or Kendrick Lamar (“Don’t Wanna Know”).

While Scott has never collaborated with Maroon 5, the rapper has had a massive 2018 with the release of his latest album, Astroworld. The record recently earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album, while its Number One single, “Sicko Mode,” was nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. Scott also appears on Rolling Stone‘s January issue on newsstands January 1st.

To coincide with the Super Bowl, Bud Light will host the Super Bowl Music Fest, which will take place January 31st through February 2nd at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The festival will feature performances from Aerosmith, Ludacris, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Migos, Lil Yachty and more.

Report: Cardi B Won’t Perform at Super Bowl in Support of Colin Kaepernick

Report: Cardi B Won’t Perform at Super Bowl in Support of Colin Kaepernick

Cardi B has rejected claims that she is asking for $1 million in order to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, although a rep for Cardi B suggested that the rapper would likely skip the Maroon 5-led performance in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.

Page Six reported that Cardi B sought millions of dollars as well as a solo showcase during the halftime performance on February 3rd at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium; Super Bowl artists don’t typically receive a fee for the halftime show, as the high-profile nature of the gig recompensates itself in publicity.

Cardi B made a natural fit for the Super Bowl LIII halftime show: The rapper is already booked to play a pre-Super Bowl concert with Bruno Mars in Atlanta and she features on halftime headliners Maroon 5’s single “Girls Like You.”

However, in previous interviews, Cardi B said that she, like Rihanna and other artists, wouldn’t perform at the Super Bowl until “they hire Colin Kaepernick back.” A rep for Cardi B confirmed to Page Six that the NFL did have conversations with the rapper to appear but denied the $1 million claim.

“The rumor circulating that she wants a million dollars and she wants her own set is false. There was never a firm offer to begin with for a performance. There [were] talks about it, but she was not particularly interested in participating because of how she feels about Colin Kaepernick and the whole movement,” the rep told Page Six. “But again, there was never a solid offer for her to say yes or no to regarding the Super Bowl. She is already confirmed to do a set with Bruno Mars that weekend.”

On Thursday, Rolling Stone cover star Travis Scott revealed that he would join Maroon 5 during the Super Bowl LIII halftime show.

Super Bowl Halftime Show – Rihanna Rejected in Support of Colin Kaepernick

Super Bowl Halftime Show – Rihanna Rejected in Support of Colin Kaepernick

NFL’s controversial anthem policy also plays role in singer’s decision to turn down Super Bowl LIII opportunity

Rihanna turned down an opportunity to headline the halftime show at Super Bowl LIII in a show of support to Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who has been exiled from the NFL following his anthem protests.

The news was first reported by Us Weekly that the Anti singer was offered the February 2019 halftime show, which will now feature Maroon 5 and special guests. A source close to Rihanna confirmed to Rolling Stone that the singer declined due to her support of Kaepernick as well as the NFL’s controversial (and ultimately stalled) anthem policy.

“The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” an insider told Us Weekly. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.”

“The offer and exposure would have been great for Rihanna as she’s planning a new album and tour but she stuck to what’s right in her eyes,” the Rihanna insider told Entertainment Tonight, who reported that Pink also turned down the halftime show after negotiations stalled.

A rep for Kaepernick did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Rihanna has not commented on the Super Bowl LIII report on social media. While Maroon 5 have been confirmed as next year’s halftime headliners at Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium, the NFL has not yet officially announced the performers, which may include the band’s “Girls Like You” co-star Cardi B.

Consecutive winners

The Steelers defeated the Rams in Super Bowl XIV to win an unprecedented four championships in six years.

Seven franchises have won consecutive Super Bowls, one of which (Pittsburgh) has accomplished it twice:

  • Green Bay Packers (Super Bowls I and II)
  • Miami Dolphins (VII and VIII)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (twice: IX and X as well as XIII and XIV)
  • San Francisco 49ers (XXIII and XXIV)
  • Dallas Cowboys (XXVII and XXVIII)
  • Denver Broncos (XXXII and XXXIII)
  • New England Patriots (XXXVIII and XXXIX)

No franchise has yet won three Super Bowls in a row, although several have come close:

  • The Green Bay Packers won the first two Super Bowls, and also won the NFL championship the preceding year.
  • The Miami Dolphins appeared in three consecutive Super Bowls (VI, VII, and VIII), winning the last two.
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers won two consecutive Super Bowls (IX and X); the following season they were eliminated in the AFC championship game by the eventual Super Bowl champion Oakland Raiders. They also won two more consecutive Super Bowls (XIII and XIV) for four wins in six seasons.
  • The San Francisco 49ers won two consecutive Super Bowls (XXIII and XXIV); the following season they were eliminated in the NFC championship by the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
  • The Dallas Cowboys won two consecutive Super Bowls (XXVII and XXVIII); the following season they were eliminated in the NFC championship game by the eventual champion San Francisco 49ers. The Cowboys won Super Bowl XXX the following year for three wins in four seasons.
  • The New England Patriots won Super Bowl XXXVI, which was two years before their consecutive wins in XXXVIII and XXXIX, for three wins in four seasons. They did not make the playoffs in the intervening season (XXXVII). The Patriots also won Super Bowls XLIX and LI and in the intervening season (50) were eliminated in the AFC championship game by the eventual champion Denver Broncos.

Consecutive losers

Three franchises have lost consecutive Super Bowls:

  • Buffalo Bills (4) (Super Bowls XXV, XXVI, XXVII, and XXVIII) – The only team to appear in four straight Super Bowls, let alone lose in all four appearances.
  • Minnesota Vikings (2) (Super Bowls VIII and IX) – They also lost Super Bowl XI, and were knocked out of the playoffs for Super Bowl X by the eventual losers the Dallas Cowboys for three losses in four seasons.
  • Denver Broncos (2) (Super Bowls XXI and XXII) – They also lost Super Bowl XXIV, but did not even make the playoffs for Super Bowl XXIII for three losses in four seasons.

Would an all-L.A. Super Bowl hurt game’s luxurious luster?

by SuperBowl 0 Comments

The Los Angeles Rams are 12-3. The Los Angeles Chargers are 11-4. The Rams project to be the No. 2 seed in the NFC and the Chargers have a shot, albeit remote, at the No. 1 seed in the AFC heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

As such, there is a possibility of an all-L.A. Super Bowl, just a few seasons after the NFL had no L.A. teams at all.

The Rams and Chargers have more than a home city in common. They also have (by NFL standards) few actual fans.

The Chargers play home games in a 27,000-seat soccer stadium and even then, much of the crowd this season has been fans of the opposing teams.

The Rams have more supporters than the Chargers, but even so, massive Los Angeles Coliseum has been packed with opponent fans most weeks, most notably in Week 15 against the Eagles when the place sounded like half of South Philly was there.

Additionally, both angered their longtime, legacy fans when, after contentious and bitter processes, they abandoned St. Louis (Rams) and San Diego (Chargers) to move to L.A. While the Rams likely won back some old fans who followed them from their original run in Southern California (1946-1994), they clearly aren’t the Packers or the Bears, with an unshakable fandom handed down through generations. Their old supporters now hate them.

So what would happen if there were a Super Bowl between two teams with no fans?

Or more precisely, would ticket demand (and thus prices on the secondary market) be impacted if the NFL’s two newest teams, who also have the weakest support in the league, played each other in Atlanta, 3,000 miles from their shared hometown?

The average ticket price for last February’s New England-Philadelphia Super Bowl in Minneapolis was $5,372 on SeatGeek, a record according to the company. Is there enough passion for the Chargers and Rams that on average someone would be willing to plunk down nearly $11,000 for two tickets, then pay for travel?

New England ranked No. 1 in the NFL for the highest resale ticket prices during the 2017 regular season, per SeatGeek. Philly was sixth as fans saw a rare opportunity to win it all.

For the 2018 season so far, the Chargers are 11th and the Rams 20th, per SeatGeek.

“And the Chargers are certainly helped in the ranking by their smaller stadium,” said Chris Leyden, SeatGeek’s statistical guru, who crunched the numbers, noting that nothing influences ticket prices like availability and thus a smaller stadium all but assures higher prices.

Also notable is that a significant amount of resale demand in L.A. is for opposing fans, not, specifically Chargers (or Rams) supporters. You’ll rarely see more than a smattering of opposing fans in most NFL stadiums. In L.A. they are everywhere.

On this alone, an all-L.A. Super Bowl would be historic. The game has featured teams with low resale rankings during the season – Atlanta in 2017 (23rd), Carolina in 2016 (15th) and San Francisco in 2013 (13th). But those Super Bowls also featured a very popular team – New England (second), Denver (third) and Baltimore (fifth) respectively in those seasons.

“Having no top-five team would be something we haven’t seen in a while, so it would certainly be interesting to see how the market would react,” Leyden said.

The scenario that drives ticket prices higher are popular legacy teams within driving distance (cuts down on travel costs) that haven’t been to the Super Bowl in years and thus allows sentimentality and desperation to overwhelm fiscal sense.

“In terms of teams that would likely drive up prices the most, Dallas and Chicago have the especially strong combo of being very popular teams that also have not won in 20-plus years,” Leyden said. “I also think the Saints would be interesting. It’s only a six-hour drive from New Orleans to Atlanta, so that makes the game much more accessible than having to book a hotel and flight.

“On the AFC side, Kansas City and Houston both have the pent-up demand argument, although the Patriots still drive significant demand despite all their success,” Leyden said.

Really, the entire possible field is promising. Seattle has money and a rabid fan base. Pittsburgh and Baltimore are proven draws. A fairly local option such as Tennessee could sneak in there from the wild card (if it makes the playoffs at all).

And then there are the L.A. teams.

No matter who makes the game, the prices will still be high. First off, the NFL allots just 35 percent of tickets for the two participating clubs to split evenly, according to the league office. In what is expected to be an approximately 75,000-seat Super Bowl set up for Mercedes Benz Stadium, each club would get about 13,125 tickets (26,250 combined).

Everything else is corporate, league controlled or local sales. It’s why there are huge variables to the prices year in and year out.

In 2016, the Broncos and the Panthers played in Santa Clara, California, and produced an average ticket price of $4,531, the second-highest ever. Just a few years prior the Patriots played the New York Giants, both bigger and wealthier markets. The game was in Indianapolis though, so tickets averaged just $3,111, meaning Denver-Carolina produced a 45.5 percent increase over New York-New England.

The difference? The comparative size and wealth of the Super Bowl host city and surrounding area. Central Indiana has about 2 million residents and an average 2017 household income of $59,566. The San Jose area is of similar size but has an average household income in 2017 of $110,040, the highest in America. The San Francisco-Oakland metropolitan region just to the north adds 4.7 million residents and an average income of $96,677, second highest in America.

Atlanta has about 5.8 million residents but an average income of just $62,613. In many ways, it really doesn’t matter what the average income is though. A middle-class fan isn’t going to shell out $11,000 to attend the Super Bowl no matter who is in – or at least no sane financial adviser would recommend it.

It’s really about how many very wealthy people live in an area. And here is where SeatGeek’s Leyden thinks an all-L.A. Super Bowl might not be all bad, despite few direct fans and lengthy travel.

In each of the past five Super Bowls, SeatGeek customers hailing from Los Angeles bought between 4 and 7 percent of all Super Bowl tickets despite never having a local team in the game. Despite being a “neutral” city, it never ranked below seventh, and got as high as third of total customers per city.

Presumably, many of these buyers were fans of New England or Denver or Seattle who transplanted to Southern California. Not all of them though. The fact is, L.A. has lots of money.

“In general an event like the Super Bowl – where tickets are costing more than $1,000 each – seems to drive an above-average amount of demand from the major cities like L.A. and New York,” Leyden said. “The above would seem to indicate that even without a team in the game there is consistent demand from L.A. It is a city with a significant population of people who can afford to attend the Super Bowl.

“Because of that I could see more casual fans of the L.A. teams be interested in attending a game with their team in it, even if they have not been going to every regular-season game,” Leyden said.

Los Angeles does love a bandwagon, after all.

So while ticket brokers, travel agencies holding hotel rooms and just about everyone else surrounding the Super Bowl would certainly prefer, say, Dallas-New England or Chicago-Kansas City or some other matchup with more fans than financial sense, perhaps an all-Los Angeles Super Bowl wouldn’t be the worst thing for them.

Perhaps.
